Incidental Wins Rebuild Towns Culture
A very undermanned Towns took on Cable Beach. From the 27 players available at training on Thursday night we somehow manage to scrape together just 2 on the bench on the Friday night (no I didn’t play – conveniently left my gear at the front door on my way out of the house. No Robbie or Daz either).
Towns kicked the first goal but that just shocked Beach into action as they booted 7 opening term goals to streak away.
The second term saw more of the same as Towns trailed by 69pts at half time.
To Towns credit we didn’t just roll over in the 2nd half. The boys fired up after a ¾ time melee and we held Beach to just 1 goal in the final term.
Unfortunately the scoreboard wasn’t flattering losing by 105 pts but a lot of spirit was shown from a very young and undermanned team.
Damo Crispin was great in a different role down back. Buso recruit Zak Austin battled hard all game and the usual ball magnets of Sean Gregory (SOS) and Shae Butler got their fair share of the footy. Matt Harris tried hard all day in a tagging role.
Was good to see life member Bill Hutton down (forgot his gear too) supporting the guys along with wife and former Towns physio Marani and son Charlie.
