Son of A Gun-Wilson shows form
Before the start of the game there was a mad struggle to work out who was turning up and who wasn’t. I was nearly going home to get my gear at one stage (thankfully wasn’t required).
Unfortunately we had several key players out due to injury and work but we did regain skipper Sean Gregory and strong mid fielder Scott Wilson. Bombers kicked the first couple of goals but Towns responded.
The second quarter was again a see sawing affair. Both teams making the most of turnovers but it the Bombers that led by 9 points at the main break.
The third was more of the same. Towns would dominate for sections only to see Bombers kick a goal against the tide. Bombers by 15 pts at ¾ time.
As happened the week before against Cable Beach, we were competitive for 3 quarters only to come to a stand still in the final term. Unsure why this is happening but we seem to lose a bit of structure in the last quarters.
This time we ended up losing by 43 points.
Shae Butler continued his good form and was strongly supported on ball by Scott Wilson and Beau Leach. Darcy Thorn played a ripper game at half forward, providing plenty of run. Damo Crispin kicked 4 goals, and young Brandan Quintrell kicked his first goal for the club.
Skipper Sean Gregory was strong again this time in defence, and George Liddiard did a lot of intercept work.
