A week is a long time in footy.
From the debacle in Derby two weeks ago where we were competitive for a half then got blown away by 90 points then we played under lights Friday night against Saints and we won by 91pts.
I can’t really comment on what happened in Derby as I didn’t make the trip up the road so best we leave that be.
Friday night was a great way for the team to bounce back. We started well edging ahead in the first term and by half time we should have had the game sewn up but inaccuracy (6 . 8 to 2. 3) kept Saints in it.
The third term we pushed further ahead booting 4 goals to 1. In the last term it was great to see Towns finish the game off well booting 7 final term goals to just 1 point. Towns 17.12. 114 to Saints 3.5. 23.
It was a great team effort. As much as we won easily there was still a lot of room for improvement with our ball handling, decision making, disposal and positioning.
Our midfield dominated all night led by B&F winner Shae Butler, skipper Sean Gregory, the coaches son Scott Wilson and ruckman Zeek McKenzie. Up forward they got plenty of supply. Clint Bell and Kevin McKenzie booted 5 goals apiece. Damo Crispin could have also kicked a bag but was a little inaccurate managing 2.6 for the night.
The backline was solid all game and provided plenty of rebound and held their lines well considering it didn’t come down too often in the 2nd half.
This week we have the challenge of backing up last weeks win with hopefully another when we take on Cable Beach Friday night.
