Rd 1. Towns V Cable Beach
First game of the season was a loss to the defending premiers Cable Beach. It was always going to be a difficult game for us, but I can reassure our supporters that the boys played well, although there was plenty of room for improvement.
CB were served really well by their forward line who didn't miss a shot at goal in the first quarter (kicking 5 goals), whilst we scoured 2.3.
The second quarter was fairly even and CB went into the half time break with 2.5 break.
In the 3rd quarter CB were again very accurate, giving our defenders no respite despite the excellent work of Sean Gregory and George Liddiard and new player Dean Milner. Ashley Spowart Bell worked his heart out and with new player Bart Djaigween, who also played well, kicking a couple of goals.
CB continued to win the contests and ran out victors quite comfortably on the scoreboard, but we had a lot of positives and a vastly improved side from last year.
